Heather Nicholds

My full bio is over on my nutrition website here, but here's a quick summary.

I moved to the west coast in 2005 and found an increasing awareness of the problems we're facing with environmental sustainability.

My desire to make a difference branched out from his studying organic gardening, and my involvement with the local Green Party, to other areas of our lives - including what we eat.

When I learned about the environmental impact of animal agriculture, I started cutting back and eventually shifted to officially being vegetarians and then vegans.

Although I started out with an environmental focus, I quickly learned about the health, ethical and social impacts which all reinforced my decision.

I looked into different ideas about what 'healthy' means, and read tons of books and articles. I tried out a 100% raw diet, studied eastern philosophies - including Chinese and Ayurvedic - and even had nothing but green smoothies for a couple of weeks.

Then I started to notice a shift in my health and energy levels. I wasn't getting tired in the afternoons. I could concentrate better, and had more energy to be active.

Questions For You

What's your #1 question about healthy cooking?

How difficult has it been to find an answer?

What prompted you to search for this today?

I wanted to share what I'd found with others, so I became a Registered Holistic Nutritionist, through the RHN program at the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition.

And having become a fairly accomplished cook after learning about all of these different food philosophies, I decided to take some cooking classes and eventually enrolled in the School of Natural Cookery.

I film new free videos for you every week, sharing vegan recipes and health tips (you can subscribe to my YouTube channel to the right), and I also have more in-depth information resources, which I hope will empower you to have fun making healthy meals, have success with your healthy weight loss plan, and find balance in your body and life.

I specialize in working with people (especially vegetarians/vegans or people who want a plant-based diet) who need a diet that is healthy and nutritionally complete.

I guess the only other thing I want to say is that this website is not only for vegans and vegetarians. It's for anyone who is interested in healthy eating.

Even if you eat lots of meat, I hope you'll tune in.

Nice Notes

"I have tried several of your recipes and I love them all. I just happen to stumble upon your website. Love it! It was just what I was looking for. Healthy, vegan recipes. There are many vegan websites but most of them are not very healthy."
